Black Friday smartwatch deals are officially less than two months away. We saw some great Black Friday discounts last year, and we're sure we'll see more this year too.

However, scouring the internet can be tough. Here at TechRadar, we're here to help you decipher which Black Friday smartwatch deals are worth your time and which offers are better left alone. In this guide, we'll round up the biggest discounts on the best smartwatches when they drop, so if you want to kick back and relax (while still getting a great bargain) just bookmark this page and return in late October and November.

In the meantime, here's everything you need to know to bag a brilliant smartwatch deal on Black Friday this year, from where to look (spoiler: here) to when the biggest price drops will happen.

Black Friday smartwatch FAQ

When will the best Black Friday smartwatches deals start in 2021?

Black Friday falls on November 26th this year, but we expect to see some tasty smartwatch discounts before then. Traditionally, the best offers were reserved for the day itself, but in recent years we’ve seen retailers launch their Black Friday pricing at the beginning of Thanksgiving week.

You'll also start seeing some offers crop up as early as October. The best deals often drop near Black Friday itself, but if you're after a bargain it's worth paying attention as soon as the first prices are cut on the smartwatch device you want to snag.

If you feel like you need a hand, we'll be rounding up all the best smartwatch Black Friday deals here, first, so bookmark this page and keep checking back.

Last year, the trend towards earlier deals was even more pronounced thanks to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions in many parts of the world. Smartwatch and other tech prices dropped in late October and stayed low into the first week of December.

According to data from Adobe Analytics, the change last year was because the pandemic accelerated the shift to online shopping, with more than a 50% increase in 2020 compared to 2019. With many brick-and-mortar stores closed, and more people than ever shopping online to stay safe - plus with restrictions causing shipping delays - it made sense for retailers to spread the deals out.

We don't know if 2021 will be the same, but we recommend having your eyes peeled from late October / early November just to be sure you find the best Black Friday smartwatch deals.

Where will the best Black Friday smartwatch deals be?

You'll, of course, find the best Black Friday smartwatch deals here as soon as they drop. However, if you want to find the deals for yourself you'll need to know where to look. If you live in the US or UK, check out our picks below for the best sites to check for Black Friday smartwatch deals when they drop later this year.

You can also check them out now to see what pre-Black Friday prices look like so you know how good the savings really are.

Which smartwatch is best for you?

There are a lot of smartwatches to be on the lookout for during Black Friday 2021, but what wearable devices will be best for you? Here's a rundown of the top devices to keep an eye on as the discounts appear.

Apple fans will be happy to know that the best smartwatch out there (according to our best smartwatch list) is the Apple Watch SE. The Apple Watch SE comes with some top-end specs, a high-end design and a great range of features that you can't get on every other smartwatch right now. The battery life could be better, but if you're looking for good value for money during Black Friday 2021, this is a smartwatch to snag.

Alternatively, Android phone users will want the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3. The Galaxy Watch 3 features a unique rotating bezel that makes navigating around the smartwatch a joy. Its functionality is great too, making this smartwatch perfect if you're looking for a smartwatch to track your fitness, look good on your wrist and do a whole lot more.

If you're on a tighter budget, you might want to check out our best cheap smartwatches for 2021, which will likely get even cheaper during Black Friday. The Fitbit Versa Lite currently sits at the top of our list showing the brand can do more than just fitness bands, while the TicWatch E2 shows that you can get something good from brands you might not be as familiar with.

Today's best smartwatch deals

The majority of the best smartwatch deals will likely happen at the end of November, but if you need to buy one now, fear not: there are plenty of smartwatch deals to browse. Here are some of our favorite models, along with today's lowest prices.

Apple Watch 5 White Sport Band 40mm (GPS + Cell): £699 £452.99 at Amazon (save £246)

Samsung Galaxy Golf: £359.99 £259.99 at Argos (save £100)

Garmin Vivomove Style: £259.99 £189.99 at Argos (save £70)
The Garmin Vivomove is a gorgeous hybrid smartwatch that's perfect for anyone who finds regular fitness trackers a little bit ugly. It has an analog face with a hidden digital display that reveals vital stats and smartphone notifications at the push of a button. It collects far more data than that though, and pushes a wealth of info on your activity and wellbeing to the Garmin Connect app on your phone. A stunning smartwatch, and a great deal with £70 off at Argos.

Ticwatch S2: £127 £84 at Mobvoi.com (save £43)
This is a really great new price for this watch. We called the Ticwatch S2 one of the best affordable Wear OS smartwatches available, and that was before this deal cut even more money off its price. It has a rugged-feeling waterproof design and two-day battery life, though it misses some features like NFC.

Best Buy will restock the Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU, among other Nvidia graphics cards today, Friday, October 1, and if you follow our GPU restock Twitter tracker Matt Swider, you'll get alerts when Nvidia graphics cards are in stock in the US.

There are already lines for the RTX 3080 at Best Buy stores nationwide, according to our on-the-ground reporting, and we did an early survey in New York City: of the 75 people in line for the GPU, only two people aren't resellers. That's right, everyone else in line at this Best Buy is just waiting to resell the RTX 3080 on eBay or StockX for double the retail price of $699.99.

Of the 75 people in line for the RTX 3080, only two people aren't resellers.

The two Best Buy customers who actually legitimately want to buy the hard-to-buy Nvidia RTX 3080 at MSRP – if they even get the sought-after GPU at this point  – want it for different purposes.

One AI research student wants the graphics card for research purposes at New York University, and the other customer wants it for gaming with her husband.

Here's how to get that tweet and all restock alerts:

How to buy a PS5 restock

When? Follow our GPU Twitter tracker Matt Swider and turn on notifications for instant restock news. It's the fastest way to get GPU stock updates.

GPU restock

(Image credit: Twitter / Matt Swider)

The problem, as we've seen with these Best Buy restock lines in the past, is that the RTX 3080-seeking student went from an alleged third spot in line the night before (Wednesday night) to the tenth (and will probably do far worse come time to hand out the paper tickets for graphics cards on Friday morning).

People constantly rush the line having "come back from the bathroom" or other excuses – again, just to resell the RTX 3080. We've also seen this scenario play out during PS5 restock in-store events at Best Buy last week.

Best Buy RTX 3080 restock time today

The Best Buy will have the RTX 3080 in stock in select stores throughout the United States today, October 1. Paper tickets will be handed out at 7:30am local time.

Don't think that showing up at the posted 7:30am time will get you a GPU, however. As we've witnessed in the past, this can happen as soon as 7am since people are in line right now – and have been since Wednesday morning at some Best Buy store locations.

Best Buy's in-store restock locator for GPUs is much better than the one used by GameStop for its PS5 restock, however, we've still laid out the store list below.

Best Buy RTX 3080 GPU restock store locations list

Because not every Best Buy will have the RTX 3080 in stock for this in-store event, do not show up at your local Best Buy before checking this list.

Editor's Note: We included the store locations that had last week's Best Buy PS5 in-store restock and crossed them off to demonstrate how few stores will have the RTX 3080 in stock. The PS5 was more widely available, according to our research. In fact, two states, Mississippi and Washington D.C. as well as Puerto Rico won't get a GPU restock whatsoever today despite having the PS5 before.

A total of 117 Best Buy store locations will have the RTX 3080 today:

Will it be just the RTX 3080?

No, the RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3070 and RTX 3090 should also be available at most stores, but everyone we've talked to so far is waiting in line for the coveted RTX 3080.

And of the two people who we interviewed who wanted the RTX 3080 for legitimate purposes (AI research and gaming), one person, the NYU researcher, said that he'll get another graphics card if he has to, but resell it because he's really after the 3080.

Considering he went from third in line to tenth and will probably slip further, that means the person who wanted a GPU for gaming may be the only person who actually purchases an RTX and keeps it from this 75-strong line at Best Buy in New York City today.

Best Buy restock line is 'pure chaos' each time

Frustrated online customers, unable to buy the RTX 3080, think a Best Buy in-store restock is great news when the retailer's website is constantly besieged by resellers who use bots to scoop up the RTX inventory before everyone else. This happened on Wednesday, September 29, the date of the latest Best Buy RTX restock online.

The grass is no greener. It's pure chaos each time in certain cities, as we've tweeted about before:

Best Buy lines in New York City

(Image credit: Twitter / Matt Swider)

In New York City, the same resellers show up, plant themselves first in line and buy all of the inventory. How fast did these GPUs resell? Before the purchase was even made. They're always pre-sold on StockX or eBay and no one gets the GPU they want for gaming or AI research.

During the last RTX 3080 restock, through our on-the-ground reporting, we identified the first person in line who actually wanted the coveted RTX 3080 (the most popular graphics card on sale at Best Buy that day) for gaming purposes. They for No. 20 in line and actually had a chance to buy it – or so it seemed.

Moments before the first paper tickets were being handed out by Best Buy managers, that No. 20 customer in line became No. 40 in line due to last-second line jumpers – "friends" of the people waiting it out in the front of the line, all of whom claimed to have always been there. It turned into a chaotic scene that was not only unfair (an 11-year-old cried) but involved a lot of pushing, shoving and shouting.

The profit margins on the PS5 and Xbox Series X are big, but not as dramatic as Nvidia GPUs. So we'll have to see how this Best Buy in-store restock goes when it comes to ensuring everyone gets their console of choice fairly and safely.

While the Apple Watch 7 was unveiled alongside the iPhone 13 and iPad mini 6 in mid-September, unlike its contemporary products pre-orders never opened and it hasn't gone on sale yet. We're still waiting for official news on the matter.

A prolific leaker, Jon Prosser, has weighed in via his website Front Page Tech. According to Prosser, lots of insider sources have stated that the Apple Watch 7 will go on sale "as early as next week" - that means the week commencing October 4.

We'd take this with a pinch of salt, as Prosser has a chequered history of leaks in the past, but AppleTrack still gives them a 74.6% accuracy rating, and people who have scored far worse on there are still frequently correct.

That date is presumably for when pre-orders will open up, and we'd expect a full release date a week on from that - if Prosser's 'next week' is correct, that'd be the week of October 11.

It's worth pointing out that Prosser's wording is quite uncertain, leaving space for the Apple Watch 7 to come out later than we've said above. So don't get your hopes too high, but hopefully the devices will be with us before November.

Three Apple Watch devices on watchOS 8

Apple Watch 7 (Image credit: Apple)

Analysis: too little, too late?

The Apple Watch 7 doesn't present a whole world of upgrades from the Watch 6 - in fact, we keep forgetting it was announced at all, as it was overshadowed by some of Apple's other products at the launch event.

The iPad mini (2021) provided loads of upgrades over its 2019 counterpart, and continued Apple's trend towards making its mid-range slates look like its iPad Pros. That tablet was the scene-stealer of the night, which is why we say we have forgot about the Watch 7.

In addition, there isn't long to wait until Black Friday Apple Watch deals start, as some of the earliest kick into gear in early November. There's no point buying a brand new wearable now, when you could pick up a very similar one for a bargain price just weeks afterwards.

That's always the risk of releasing products later in the year, and while Apple's releases are usually early enough to avoid the clash, in 2020 its devices all launched late and people still ate them up. So it's probably not something the company is too worried about - but if this was anyone but Apple, it could be an issue.

The best smart lock means leaving home without your keys is no longer a nightmare situation, as you can use your smartphone to unlock your front door. A smart lock also ensures you no longer need a key to secure your property either.

The best smart locks are available in a range of different designs, so whether you want an unassuming model that disguises its smarts to the outside world or a more high-tech style that proudly boasts a keypad and does away with a physical key complete, there’s an option to suit you.

As well as being controlled by your smartphone, you can also use your voice to control a smart lock, as you would any other smart home device. This means it's far easier to secure your home for the night when you’re heading up to bed - just ask the voice assistant in one of the best smart speakers or smart displays.

A smart lock can also prove a useful bit of kit in your home security strategy, too, automating the steps you may take to ensure intruders can’t access your house. For example, if one of the best video doorbells or home security cameras detects activity outside, a smart lock can be set to instantly secure your door.

There’s a number of different smart locks on the market and knowing which is right for you can leave you feeling perplexed. We’ve put some of the biggest brands to the test to discover just which is the best smart lock available right now.

The best smart locks 2021: ranked

Yale x Nest smart lock on a white background

1. Nest x Yale smart lock

The best smart locck

Dimensions: Exterior: 2.59" x 4.59" x 0.08" / Interior: 2.78" x 7.03" x 2.02" | Weight: 2.42lb | Power: 4 AA batteries (included)

Stylish
Responsive
Simple to use app
Only works with other Nest smart home devices

The Nest x Yale lock is the best we've tested, although it only works with other Nest smart home products, such as the Nest Learning Thermostat and its range of home security cameras including Nest Cam Outdoor.

Simple to use, the Nest x Yale lock looks stylish and is available in Satin Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Polished Brass, so no matter what your style is, you should find something that fits.

It is easy to set up and features a keypad on the outside, so you punch in a code to enter your house, rather than insert a key. This is great if your keys are shoved way down in your pockets or purse. On test, we were impressed with the one-touch locking feature, that allows you to lock your door just by pressing the Yale logo. We also found the app clear and simple to use too

Schlage Sense Smart Lock on a white background

2. Schlage Sense Smart Lock

The best smart lock for house guests

Dimensions: Exterior: 3" x 5" x 1" / Interior: 3" x 8" x 2" | Weight: 3.4lb | Power: 4 AA batteries (included)

Easy to install
Generate codes for guest access
Works with HomeKit, Alexa and Google Assistant
Slightly bulky
App is fiddly to use

If you have a lot of house guests when you're not around, the Schalge Sense is the best smart lock for you, as the app can generate (and delete once they've been used) codes so your guests can access the property without a key.

Easy to install, the Schalge Senseorks with Apple's HomeKit, so you can control your lock using devices like an Apple TV, iPad or HomePod speaker through the HomeKit app. The lock also supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing you to use just your voice to unlock and lock the device. However, it is on the bulky side.

We also found app is fiddly to use and you'll need patience to deal with dropped connections from time to time.

3. August Smart Lock Pro

The best discreet smart lock

Sleek, discreet design
Can still be used with keys
Bundled with Wi-Fi bridge
Expensive compared to the rest of the market

The August Smart Lock Pro is one of the most discreet smart locks on the market, in fact, from the outside, you would never know it's there.

On test, we found the smart lock would automatically unlock when we were 20-30 feet from our door, granting us easy, keyless access, although you can still use your existing keys if you'd prefer.

You will need a Wi-Fi bridge in order to unlock the full potential of the August Smart Lock Pro, but the August Connect bridge is included when you purchase the lock. It's also an expensive smart lock compared to the rest of the market, but we think it's worth the investment.

The Kwikset Obsidian is a great-looking smart lock. It hugs tight against the door for a low profile, and has a glassy sheen that adds a touch of elegance to any door. It's completely keyless, with only a touchscreen for entering access codes. You can create up to 16 logins for family and friends.

The lock also includes a patented Kwikset safety feature called SecureScreen that basically prevents someone from seeing where you've touched the screen to input your code (it generates random digits that you have to press before entering your actual entry code).

This is to prevent someone from simply looking at where your fingerprint smudges are and copying the code that way. However, while it works with Alexa, there's no HomeKit or Google Assistant support.

Should I buy a Quikset Obsidian Smart Lock?

How we test smart locks

To compare the best smart locks we assess how easy they are to install and control. We  evaluate how quickly they respond to commands such as locking and unlocking the door, both when we’re at home and when we’re no longer close-by. We also check whether they integrate with Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, and how effectively the relevant voice assistant responds to commands to control the smart lock.

We also assess each model on its ability to replace different styles of door locks, as well as how durable it is, and the extra kit such as hubs that’s also available for the smart lock. We also consider whether it can be used with a key in case the Wi-Fi network, any functions that let you provide short term access to friends and family, and and that it didn’t require reading a thick instruction manual before use.

What to consider when buying a smart lock

If you’re trying to choose the right smart lock for you, there are a number of considerations you should take into account before deciding on the ideal model for you.

Some smart locks connect to your smartphone using Bluetooth, but that means you’ll only be able to lock the door if you’re close by. However if you’re the forgetful type that struggles to remember to lock the door, a design with Wi-Fi built-in or that uses a bridge to connect to the internet and relay instructions from the cloud, will ensure it can be locked or unlocked even if you’re no longer at the property.

The styling of the smart lock and whether it will fit with your current decor should also be contemplated; as there’s a wide array to choose from including traditional-looking devices that disguise their smarts to futuristic designs with keypads and touchscreens.

Not all smart locks integrate with all voice assistants, so check a model is compatible if you already use a voice assistant in your home, and whether it will integrate with other smart home devices you already own such as home security cameras, video doorbells and smart lights.

Also consider if you need the ability to give friends and family short-term access to the lock, and if so, does the smart lock offer activity logs so you can review who’s accessed your home and when.

Can smart locks be hacked?

Like any internet-connected device, there is a risk that smart locks could be hacked. However some good security practices will help minimize the risk. If there’s a default password on the smart lock, always change it and opt for a unique password, avoiding duplicating passwords from other accounts, and using a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. Ensure it doesn’t contain personally identifiable information either. Make sure you home Wi-Fi also has a strong secure password and the firmware for smart lock is up-to-date.

How do smart locks work?

Smart locks are keyless devices that connect to your home Wi-Fi and can be opened by your smartphone, some also come with a keypad so a code can be entered to unlock it too. Most smart locks work with voice assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant so you can use your voice to unlock them too.

Some smart locks replace your existing lock completely, so you’ll need to be confident with DIY if you want to install them yourself, while others simply fit over the existing lock and require far less DIY.

Many of the best smart locks can be used with smart home hubs, such as the best smart speakers and smart displays, to create home automations. For example, you can secure your smart lock and arm your home security cameras with one command, or at a certain time if you’re leaving the house, or perhaps going to bed. It’s worth noting that not all smart locks will work with all voice assistants and smart home hubs, so if you already have an established smart home, check a device is compatible before you buy.

Black Friday is a great time to pick up a board game deal. We're expecting to see a wide range of discounts on involving and immersive board games in the November holiday sales, with price drops on some of the best tabletop games ever conceived. From popular strategy games like Catan and Ticket to Ride to more niche options like Gloomhaven and Twilight Imperium, there's sure to be some outstanding Black Friday board game deals this year for all ages - and we'll be rounding up the biggest offers here.

The best board games are not only a ton of fun, they can also be a great way for family and friends to socialize. And once we're comfortably out of the Covid-19 pandemic, we expect board game popularity will be on the rise once more. In that case, why not get ahead of the curve and anticipate which board games will be available to buy - and what deals to expect - on Black Friday, which takes place on November 26.

This year, we're expecting demand to continue for contemporary games like Dixit, Blood Rage and Secret Hitler, which took the spotlight during the pandemic. Of course it's not just board games that we expect to see discounted this Black Friday period, as many of the best card games are sure to go on sale, too, if you're looking for something a bit more compact than a potentially large board.

Card and board games have also largely been embraced online thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, with sites like Chess.com enjoying huge popularity, alongside Steam's Tabletop Simulator and the Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics collection on Nintendo Switch.

When will the best Black Friday board game deals start in 2021?

While Black Friday officially kicks off on November 26 this year, many retailers across the US and UK are bound to start their sales periods early. In a lot of cases, this can be up to a week earlier (or more) than the official date.

And up to a week earlier is where we start to see the best board games receive their discounts, particularly on Amazon, which usually seems keen to get its deals out there before other retailers, and price matching many of them.

Where are the best places to find Black Friday board game deals?

In the US, Walmart and Amazon tend to have the best board game deals on Black Friday. Last year, for example, Walmart sold the ever-engaging Catan at half price. Amazon also saw sizeable discounts on usually expensive games like Gloomhaven, making the online retailer an ideal choice for your board game purchases on Black Friday.

Over to the UK, then, last year's best board game deals certainly weren't as strong, with decidedly smaller discounts across most retailers than the US. While Amazon saw some good deals with games like Ticket to Ride and Betrayal at House on the Hill, most deals certainly weren't anything to write home about.

What Black Friday board game deals do we expect to see in 2021?

For US buyers, we expect to see a similar slew of great discounts across all manner of board games. As always, Walmart and Amazon will be the ones to watch here, as they offered the most impressive discounts last year when it comes to board games.

In the UK, it's entirely possible that board game deals become markedly better than last year's Black Friday. If Covid-19 restrictions continue to relax, that could generate more demand for in-person social gaming. As such, UK retailers might see fit to promote heavier discounts on some of the best board games available.

How can I get the best Black Friday board game deals on the day?

Make sure not to pass Go, and don't collect $200.

In all seriousness, you'll want to get a headstart on the sales, just like the sales themselves do ahead of Black Friday. As many retailers' sales periods actually begin before November 26, keeping an eye on outlets like Amazon, Walmart, Argos and John Lewis ahead of the day will give you a better chance of scoring a deal on a board game without fear of missing out.

Today's best board game deals where you are

Not in the US or UK? Then check out the best board game prices in your region below:

Last year's best Black Friday board game deals in the US

To give you an idea of what to expect during this year's Black Friday sales, we've put together a list of the best deals available in each region from last year's event. Hopefully, we'll see discounts as good as if not better than those featured below during this year's Black Friday sales period.

Catan: $49.49 $24.72 at Walmart
Catan, or as most everyone knows it, Settlers of Catan, is a game about growing an empire through trade and resource gathering. You'll take turns rolling dice, collecting the resource of the corresponding number, and then building towns and cities to increase the amount of resources gained. It supports from two to five players and is recommended for ages 10+.

Ticket to Ride: $54.99 $25 at Walmart
Another classic, Ticket to Ride has you creating freight train lines across the US in pursuit of railroad dominance. You score more points for completing longer routes, but your opponents will likely be building in the same direction, so you have to be strategic. For two to five players ages 8 and up.

Pandemic: $44.99 $19.97 at Walmart
This is the cheapest price we've seen for the, er, prescient board game. So why is everyone on board with Pandemic? It's an excellent co-operative strategy game that requires everyone to work together to take down four different diseases. Huh, working together to beat a virus, neat concept.

Gloomhaven: $140.00 $111.99 at Amazon
This persistent world board game – that is, designed to be played over multiple sessions – is an RPG-like game with tactical combat. It's aimed at players aged 12+, and while it's been around this price for a little while, it's still a lot lower than the original retail price.

Mysterium: $54.99 $35.96 at Amazon
Mysterium tasks you with solving, well, a mystery. (Duh!) Each night players work to uncover the mystery of Warwick Manor using clues provided to them by a spiritual entity. Together, they'll have to figure out the weapon, location, and identity of the murderer which makes it like a better version of the classic Clue. It's for two to seven players aged 10+.

Last year's best Black Friday board game deals in the UK

Formula D: £44.81 £38.74 at Amazon
The premise of Formula D is simple (be first to cross the finish line and take the chequered flag), but gameplay is surprisingly technical, involving gear-changes determined by dice-rolls, carefully calculated pit-stops, and penalties for shoddy driving. Adding drift and track debris spices things up even more. Supports up to 10 players, recommended for ages 14+.

Monopoly: £22.99 £17.99 at Very
Everyone knows Monopoly - it's been the cause of family arguments for many moons. This classic board game sees you making your way around the board in an effort to gather up as many properties as you can and ultimately leaving your opponents without a penny. For 2-8 players and recommended for those aged 8+.

Ticket to Ride: £39.99 £32.95 at Amazon
Another classic, Ticket to Ride has you creating freight train lines across the US in pursuit of railroad dominance. You score more points for completing longer routes, but your opponents will likely be building in the same direction, so you have to be strategic. For two to five players ages 8 and up.

Betrayal at House on the Hill: £47.16 £36.72 at Amazon
Betrayal at House on the Hill sees you making your way through a mysterious house full of monsters and dangers. The catch in this game is that one person will become a traitor, looking to sabotage the rest. Players need to defeat the traitor and survive. House on the Hill is recommended for 3-6 players and those aged 12+.

Exploding Kittens Party Pack: £19.99 £16.85 at Amazon
With original art from The Oatmeal, Exploding Kittens is like a game of Russian Roulette where you try your best not to pick up the exploding kitten. You'll do this by using cards to see what's coming up in the deck, and pass extra turns to your opponents. It's fun, fast and supports up to 10 players.

The best robot vacuums are a great way to outsource the chore of floor cleaning - these appliances make their way around your home collecting dust and debris, while you put your feet up. However, they can be a costly purchase, so a good robot vacuum deal with a hefty discount is always welcome.

In the UK, Amazon has slashed 36% off the price of the Ecovacs Deebot N79S robot vacuum cleaner, reducing it to just £159.98 from £249.00. While this isn’t as low as the prices we saw for this cordless vacuum cleaner on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s still a good deal. (Not in the UK? Scroll down for the best robot vacuum deals in your region.)

Today's best Ecovacs robot vacuum deal in the UK

Ecovacs Deebot N79S: £249.00 £159.98 at Amazon
Amazon has knocked almost £90 off the cost of this robot vacuum cleaner, which can automatically increase the suction power when moving to carpet from hard floors. This isn’t the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this robot vacuum - it dropped to £139.98 in November 2020, but it’s still a good deal. We don’t know how long it will last – so we suggest that you snap it up now.

The Ecovacs Deebot N79S is the brand’s entry-level robot vacuum, which has three cleaning modes; auto for general dust pick-up, as well as a dedicated edge mode designed to clean the perimeter or a room, and spot cleaning to tackle areas where there’s a large amount of debris.

It has a 520ml dust canister, and is just 7.9cm tall, making it one of the slimmer robot vacuums we’ve tested, and good for cleaning under furniture with low clearance. Drop protection means it won’t plunge to the bottom of a flight of stairs when left unattended, either.

On test, we found the robot vacuum was good for a daily pootle around your home, collecting fine dust, but for a deeper clean you’ll still need to use your existing vacuum cleaner.

The Ecovacs Deebot N79S can be controlled from an app on your smartphone, including scheduling cleans, but is also compatible with Alexa, so if you have one of the best smart speakers or smart displays in your home, you can simply ask the robot vacuum to start cleaning. When the battery gets low the robot vacuum will automatically return to its base station to recharge, too.

It looks as if that Grand Theft Auto trilogy remaster is getting ever closer to becoming a reality. A new rating listing for for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has been spotted on Korea's game rating board's website, giving us the best indication yet that the re-releases are happening.

The site offers a few details of the title, stating it is via an application for an age rating from Take Two interactive, for an action game developed in the United States.

And, as expected for the criminally-inspired Grand Theft Auto series, it's been awarded an 18 rating, keeping it out of the hands of Korean minors upon its now-inevitable release.

This latest sighting of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition follows months of speculation, fuelled by publisher Take Two's legal battles to take down existing Grand Theft Auto mods.

Analysis: A big score needed

Can you believe it's been eight years since Grand Theft Auto V originally released? Still hugely popular, especially with its Grand Theft Auto Online component, it remains the biggest entertainment property of all time, across any media, with over 150 million copies shipped worldwide as of July 2021.

But there's a sense that the goodwill towards the game is finally starting to run dry, and that fans want something new. Recent showings of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V PS5 remaster (the third console generation that the game will find itself on) were met with indifference, as the game finally starts showing its age.

With a true sequel, Grand Theft Auto 6, still yet to be revealed, developers Rockstar and publisher Take-Two needs an easy-ish win, and there are none perhaps easy than adding a fresh lick of paint to some of the most fondly-remembered games of all time – the original 3D Grand Theft Auto trilogy.

GTA III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, paved the way for the modern free-roaming, free wheeling GTA games that we now all know and love. But they originally launched way back in the PS2 era, and though PC, newer console and mobile ports have followed, they weren't massive overhauls of the original games.

If Rockstar has put together updated and improved versions of these three classics, with features and graphics more in line with modern sensibilities and expectations, it could have another mega hit on its hands.
