Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a new wave of online scams designed to entrap people looking to watch the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die.
Released on Thursday, the new Bond flick has garnered plenty of attention in the press and on social media, creating an opening for cybercriminal actors.
According to analysis from security firm Kaspersky, threat actors are capitalizing on the excitement surrounding the film to spread malware and steal personal data that could be used to hijack online accounts.

The company identified numerous malicious download links for the new film, which conceal a variety of types of malware, including adware, trojans, password stealers and ransomware.
On other websites, meanwhile, visitors are allowed to watch the first few minutes of the film, but are then asked to enter personal information and credit card details. This data is then used to debit the victim’s bank account.
The Spy Who Phished Me
It is a common tactic among cybercriminals to latch onto the latest trend or event to draw people into making mistakes. In the same way as uncertainty surrounding the pandemic was exploited, for example, hackers are using the appetite for the latest Bond film to infect devices and steal sensitive data.
“Various sources of entertainment, including movies, have always been an attractive lure for cybercriminals to spread threats and phishing pages,” explained Tatyana Scherbakova, Security Expert at Kaspersky.
“Inevitably, such a long-awaited premiere as No Time To Die causes a stir. The audience is in a hurry to see the movie, causing them to forget about internet security.”
To shield against scams of this kind, Kaspersky says web users should avoid sites promising early viewings of films or TV series, check the authenticity of a website before entering personal details and pay close attention to the type of files they are downloading (for example, a video file will never finish with “.exe”).
For an additional layer of protection, meanwhile, the company advises users to shield their devices with a leading antivirus product.

Former US President Donald Trump asked a federal judge in Florida on Friday to ask Twitter to restore his account, which the company removed in January citing a risk of incitement of violence.
Trump filed a request for preliminary injunction against Twitter in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, arguing the social media company was “coerced” by members of the US Congress to suspend his account.
Twitter and several other social media platforms banned Trump from their services after a mob of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol in a deadly riot on Jan. 6.
That assault followed a speech by Trump in which he reiterated false claims that his election loss in November was because of widespread fraud, an assertion rejected by multiple courts and state election officials.
Twitter “exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate,” Trump’s lawyers said in the filing. The filing was reported earlier by Bloomberg.
Twitter declined to comment on the filing when contacted by Reuters.
At the time of removing Trump’s account permanently, Twitter said his tweets had violated the platform’s policy barring “glorification of violence”. The company said at the time that
Trump’s tweets that led to the removal were “highly likely” to encourage people to replicate what happened in the Capitol riots.
Before he was blocked, Trump had more than 88 million followers on Twitter and used it as his social media megaphone.
In the court filing, Trump argued Twitter allowed the Taliban to tweet regularly about their military victories across Afghanistan, but censored him during his presidency by labeling his tweets as “misleading information” or indicating they violated the company’s rules against “glorifying violence”.
In July Trump sued Twitter, Facebook and Google, as well as their chief executives, alleging they unlawfully silence conservative viewpoints.

Canadian health officials said on Friday data suggests reported cases of rare heart inflammation were relatively higher after Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine compared with the Pfizer/BioNTech shots.
The data also indicated heart inflammation occurs more often in adolescents and adults under 30 years of age, and more often in males.
The statement from the Public Health Agency of Canada said majority of the affected individuals experienced relatively mild illness and recovered quickly.
The risk of cardiac complications, including heart inflammation, has been shown to be substantially increased following COVID-19 infections, with the risks higher after the infection than after vaccination, according to the statement.
The benefits of mRNA shots in preventing COVID-19 continue to outweigh the risks, regulators in the United States, EU and the World Health Organization have said.

GeForce Now only previously had one EA game available to stream – the popular battle royale Apex Legends – but a cluster of new games, or to be precise four of them, have just arrived on Nvidia’s service.

Analysis: A good sign for the future
While the EA titles introduced here might be pretty old – Dragon Age is a big franchise name, of course, but Inquisition was released way back in 2014 – the fact that a number of EA games are now present on GeForce Now is a good sign.
It bodes well for further products to come across from the major publisher in the future, hopefully before too long. (And yes, as you might guess, there are already gamers clamoring for FIFA 22 to come to the streaming service – but the next titles to arrive will doubtless be lower-key affairs, naturally).

If you’re in the market for a cheap Android tablet then Motorola has a new option you might want to consider, dubbed the Moto Tab G20.
This slate has so far only been launched in India, but a wider rollout is certainly possible, so don’t be surprised if it comes to the US, UK or elsewhere soon.
While the specs don’t excite, it looks to have the basics covered, being essentially a slightly modified version of the Lenovo Tab M8, and thanks to its 8-inch screen it could also be a strong option for anyone after a relatively compact, portable slate.

The Moto Tab G20 was announced on September 30, 2021, and it will be sold in India from October 2. At the time of writing there’s no word on if or when it will arrive in other regions, but we wouldn’t count it out.

Design and display

The Moto Tab G20 has an 8-inch 1280 x 800 IPS LCD screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and an 85% screen-to-body ratio. So its screen is small and not particularly high resolution, but that’s in line with the price.
As for the design, it comes in at 199.1 × 121.8 × 8.15mm and 305g, making it marginally heavier than the iPad mini (2021). The bezels are sizeable, but where it comes out looking surprisingly premium is the back, which is made from metal. However, it’s only available in a single color – platinum grey.
It’s also worth noting that the Moto Tab G20 has a 3.5mm headphone port, so fans of wired audio are in luck here.
Camera and battery
Tablets rarely include great cameras, especially at the lower end of the market, so we wouldn’t expect much from the cameras here, but you get a 5MP main one and a 2MP front-facing one.
The battery meanwhile is fairly small at 5,100mAh, though Motorola claims it can last through up to 15 hours of video viewing, and its charging speeds top out at 10W (via USB-C), so this won’t juice up particularly fast. There's also no wireless charging, but we wouldn't expect that at this price.
Specs and features
The Moto Tab G20 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22T chipset, which is a low-end one. It also has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot so you can add more.
It runs a near-stock version of Android 11, so there should be minimal bloat or manufacturer customizations – this is Android more or less as Google intended it.
Others features include face unlock, and a single bottom-firing speaker, capable of Dolby Atmos audio.
If you've been on the search for a new iPhone lately, you will have seen that Apple has launched four new devices. In typical Apple fashion, these devices aren't too cheap, but, there are ways to get the prices down.
One of those ways is by signing up to a 36 month contract. If you know you want to hold onto the device for longer than the normal two year life span, you can get a much cheaper price by adding on an additional year.

The iPhone 13 is the first Apple smartphone to top out at 1TB of internal storage, if you go for either the Pro or Pro Max model, but it seems Apple isn't finished there: the latest from the rumor mill suggests that the iPhone 14 could go as high as 2TB.
That's according to MyDrivers (via MacRumors), which has something of a hit and miss record with predictions – so don't take this as definite just yet. We're not expecting the phone for another 11 months, after all.
The site does mention a switch to a new type of flash storage called QLC (quad-level cell), which improves performance and capacity while also reducing cost. That switch has been mentioned by other sources, though this is the first we're hearing of a 2TB option.
As with the current iPhone line-up, it's reasonable to assume that the maximum 2TB of storage will appear on the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, if it appears at all – it's likely that these configurations are going to be rather pricey.
To date we haven't heard too much about what Apple might be planning for its 2022 iPhone series. One rumor that has emerged is that the iconic iPhone notch could make way for a smaller punch hole design on the displays of the Pro models.
There's also been talk of an upgrade to a 48MP camera sensor, and higher resolution video capture could be one of the reasons that more storage is going to be offered by Apple. It would be a surprising upgrade if it happens, but we'll wait and see.
Opinion: more storage is always welcome

More storage space always used to be an expected upgrade year on year for flagship smartphones, but that trend has faded away as more and more of us have started relying on cloud storage to keep all of our precious photos, videos and other files safe.
On top of that, there's been a seismic shift from owning digital content like movies and music to simply streaming it through the likes of Netflix and Spotify. With broadband and cellular speeds increasing all the time, the need to keep files stored locally on a device is not as important as it once was.
Even so, we're not going to turn down the offer of 2TB. With the Pro iPhones now capable of shooting 4K ProRes video at 60 frames per second, it's a case of the more storage the better – and that's before we get on to syncing audio and video for offline playback.
If the higher storage configurations aren't for you, the more affordable, lower capacity options are still going to be available as usual. We're always glad to see more storage choices available at the top end though, and that goes for flagship Android devices as well as the Apple iPhone range.
Other than the Google Pixel 6 – which is in a weird half launched state – the Samsung Galaxy S22 range is arguably the next major smartphone launch we’re expecting, and we now have a good idea of what to expect from the phones visually, thanks to some leaked case renders.
The most interesting are those showing the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, shared by leaker Ice Universe. These show a phone with a far more angular design than the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’s a shape that’s more like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in fact.
The images also show a cut-out in the case which might be for the rumored S Pen slot, all of which, along with the rumored name change to the Samsung Galaxy Note 22 Ultra, suggests that the Note range might be coming back sooner than expected.

The back of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra also looks different, with a camera block that’s more of a ‘P’ shape, though it sounds like Ice Universe isn’t certain this will be the exact shape, based on the accompanying text.
Next up there’s the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, with renders for both of these phones shared by SlashLeaks. These are less interesting simply because they look a lot like their predecessors, though it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S22 might have larger camera lenses than the Galaxy S21.
However, given that the lenses also look potentially bigger than those shown on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, we wouldn’t read too much into this – they might have been incorrectly rendered.
In any case, all of these designs look broadly like what we’ve seen before in previous leaks, so while we’d take them with a pinch of salt, they may well be accurate.
Analysis: Samsung rolling the Note into the S range makes sense
A lot of people were disappointed that there wasn’t a new Samsung Galaxy Note this year, but the range hasn’t made a huge amount of sense for a while now.
The Note range used to have larger screen sizes than the S range, but in recent years that hasn’t so much been the case, leaving the S Pen as the only major differentiator. That hardly seems enough to justify a whole line of handsets, but it is a useful feature to have, so Samsung adding it to the S range makes sense.
That started with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra this year, but that phone didn’t have a slot for the S Pen, while it’s looking increasingly like the Galaxy S22 Ultra will.
We’re not sure it’s necessary to change the name or design in line with the Note range, as also might be happening. But either way, whether we get the S22 Ultra or the Note 22 Ultra, it seems the spirit of Samsung’s Galaxy Note range will probably live on, without the excessive number of overly similar premium handsets that the company has been offering for the last few years.
