For a while the Xiaomi 12 wasn't leaking much, even though it's expected to launch in December - that's no longer the case, and the anticipated Android phone is starting to come together.
We've now heard multiple pieces of information about the phone's rear camera bump, which make the upcoming device sound very... Xiaomi.
Firstly, a leaker on Chinese social media platform Weibo has provided imagery of the back of the Xiaomi, showing what looks like the back plate of the mobile. Accompanying the post is a render created based on this panel - it's not an official image.
The picture shows a camera bump with one giant main camera, two smaller ones below it on the left side, and a flash as well as what looks like a light sensor on the right. Judging by the picture, Xiaomi is embracing the 'giant-eye'd Cyclops' look that it's used before on phones like the Mi 10T Pro.
We don't know right now what these cameras are - presumably, the big one is the main camera, perhaps with a super-sized 50MP or 108MP sensor. The render shows '50MP' on the camera bump, and that's a commonly-leaked spec, but it's hard to be sure without solid information.
As well as big, this Xiaomi 12 bump could be good-looking, as a separate leak from prolific leaker Digital Chat Station has commented on the coating the camera module will have - apparently, "it uses a new processing technology to look and feel more coordinated with the AG glass body".
This likely means that the camera bump is getting some kind of coating to ensure it looks similar to the rest of the phone - presumably this will give it a particular glaze or sparkle. It could also give the module extra protection, which will be important if it sticks out as far as the images suggest.
Analysis: sticking with the three-camera setup
Both the Xiaomi 12 back plate and Digital Chat Station's leak suggest the upcoming phone will have three rear cameras, as did the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Ultra.
That's an intriguing change of strategy for the brand from the days of the Mi Note 10 with five rear snappers or the Mi 10 with four.
We're not complaining though, as often extra lenses on phones are more useful for fleshing out a specs list than improving photography in any way - sometimes three is better than four or five.
Two of the cameras will almost definitely be a main and ultra-wide snapper, and the third could be a macro like on the Mi 11, or telephoto which many brands opt to use for zoom pictures.
We'll have to wait and see - the Xiaomi 12 is expected to launch in December so we won't be twiddling our thumbs long.
Moss: Book 2 is coming next year, meaning we're getting a sequel to one of the best PSVR games ever made. The original Moss made a splash on PSVR when it launched in 2018. Much like the phenomenal Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, it stood out from the crowd by being a fully fledged VR title for PlayStation's headset that wasn't simply a tech demo or port of a non-VR game.
As reported by IGN, Moss: Book 2 is currently slated for a Spring 2022 launch on PS4 and PSVR. The plot looks to build on what the first game established, with our stalwart mouse protagonist, Quill, trapped in a castle. Much like the first game, she'll go between solving creative puzzles and engaging in combat with all sorts of deadly creatures. You can check out the announcement trailer below.
Developer Polyarc's official website doesn't have too much info on the game at present, besides a brief plot synopsis. From this, we can gather that Quill is taking the fight to the Arcane on their own doorstep, and she'll be joined by new and old allies both, which is a wonderful touch.
And if you've long since ditched your PS4 for a shiny new PS5, fear not, as the PSVR headset is still compatible with Sony's current-gen machine. That's a great thing for VR fans eagerly anticipating the launch of PSVR 2, currently slated for a release in late 2022.
Analysis: How does PSVR 2 fit in?
It's great to see that the original PSVR is still being supported by some of its best developers. However, we can only imagine that many of them are shifting focus to PSVR 2. After all, Sony confirmed via an official blog post that "the development community has started to work on creating new worlds for you to explore in virtual reality." We take this to mean that developers are already hard at work on new PSVR 2 games.
We'd like to think that Moss: Book 2 will eventually be a part of that PSVR 2 roster, as well, either via an enhanced port or compatibility with the new VR headset at the very least.
It's curious, then, that Polyarc would choose to launch the sequel to its marquee title for the original headset. Perhaps the developer always had the first PSVR in mind when developing Moss: Book 2, as it was likely in the works long before Sony's followup headset was announced.
With that in mind, we certainly hope Polyarc has more projects in mind for PSVR 2, whether that be a future Moss title or the beginning of an entirely new series. Either way, we're eagerly looking forward to what the developer has in store for the future of not just PSVR 2, but PS5 as a whole.
A new version of WordPress that's currently under development, WordPress 5.9, is now available in beta for testing purposes.
Given WordPress 5.9 Beta 1 is not a stable release, the developers recommend tests should be carried out on test websites rather than live sites, in case any issues reveal themselves.
WordPress has released a set of detailed instructions for users to follow in order to carry out the test successfully.
The final version of WordPress 5.9 is scheduled for release on January 25, 2022.
WordPress 5.9 Beta 1 testing
With eight weeks left until the software goes live, WordPress has developed three different ways for users to test WordPress 5.9 Beta 1 on their sites.
The first option is to install and activate the WordPress Beta Tester plugin, select the “Bleeding edge” channel and “Beta/RC Only” stream.
The second way is to directly download the beta version, and the third way is to use WP-CLI to test: wp core update --version=5.9-beta1. However, the third option is not advised for filesystems that are case-insensitive.
WordPress said in a blog post that the main reason for these tests is to polish the release in the beta stage. The release already contains 580 enhancements and nearly 450 bug fixes, and contributors have addressed 297 tickets for WordPress 5.9 so far, including 110 new features and enhancements.
This latest WordPress version will also introduce WordPress’ very first block-based default theme, Twenty Twenty-Two.
“It’s the very first theme that’s block based and needs thorough testing as a result,” said a WordPress contributor in the detailed guide.
WordPress also dished out extra tips for those who want to participate in testing the new version on their sites, which include testing across different browsers, testing in different languages, and seeing what the new features look like on different screen sizes.

Qualcomm makes the platforms that power some of the world’s best consumer tech, but it may one day partner with other brands to make Snapdragon Editions of already existing gadgets.
Flights and accommodation for this launch event were funded by Qualcomm, but the views reflect the writer's own independent opinion.
Don McGuire, Chief Marketing Officer at Qualcomm, spoke to TechRadar about the potential plans for Snapdragon Editions that could one day be introduced to the company's product lineup.
Speaking about 2021's Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders, McGuire confirmed the company is still taking stock on how it did. It's currently undecided if it'll press ahead with a second-gen product.
McGuire said, "Our intention has never been to get into the phone business and compete with our customers. We're not Microsoft.
"It's more about can we leverage, can we get feedback and is there an affinity for it? What kind of things can we learn? And, then where would we go from there?
"We've got different scenarios, like do we want to do Snapdragon Editions? Do we want to partner with our partners on wearables and other places and do a Snapdragon Edition of their products."
Different scenarios
It’s clear this is an early concept for the company, but it may mean we see products that already use Qualcomm's technology packaged up in special editions with the Snapdragon brand attached.
McGuire's example was around wearables, but it was clear Qualcomm is considering this strategy in its other existing verticals too. That may mean we see smartphones with Snapdragon Edition branding in the future.
On the Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders, McGuire explained it was never intended to be a project that would sell a lot of devices.
He said, "It was a grand experiment. It was less about seeing if we could sell a Snapdragon branded phone and more about testing the affinity for the brand and getting feedback on certain features and experiences.
It was never meant to sell a bunch of phones.

"We were seeing if we could leverage our [Snapdragon] Insiders base to give us more proactive input into the product development process through a device like this.
"What it turned into was always an open question. We're like, let's just do it, put it out there and see what happens and see what kind of feedback we get.
"We're looking at all these different outlets. It's all about enhancing the brand. But it was never meant to sell a bunch of phones. Because, it was super expensive... right?"
The handset was made in collaboration with Asus, and for anyone wanting to buy it there was the prohibitively high launch price of $1,499 / £1,099 (roughly AU$2,020) to stomach.
McGuire also confirmed that the project also landed later than Qualcomm had originally planned with delays impacting the release of the Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders.
The device was revealed in July 2021, and it went on sale around a month later. It used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 platform even though the improved Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC had been revealed a few weeks before the handset made its debut.
McGuire was clear that no decisions have been made about where the company will go next with its Snapdragon Insider or Snapdragon Edition products.
He said, "Once we get all the feedback in, then we're gonna sit down - probably by the first quarter of next year - and say, here's what we learned and where do we want to go next?"
Will that mean more Snapdragon branded gadgets? Only time will tell, but it's an interesting route for a brand that has always been focussed on making the technology that powers other brand's devices.
A Russian national will serve a five-year prison sentence after being found guilty of running an underground web hosting company for malware operators, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) has confirmed.
Aleksandr Grichishkin, together with three co-conspirators (Andrei Skvortsov, Aleksandr Skorodumov, and Pavel Stassi), advertised their "bulletproof hosting" company on the dark web, and provided technical support for malicious actors from 2008 and 2015.
During that time, the company provided hosting and command a and control (C&C) servers for malware including Zeus, SpyEye, Citadel and Blackhole.
According to court documents, Grichishkin was the ringleader. He helped malicious actors stay out of reach of law enforcement by monitoring sites used to blacklist technical infrastructure used for illegal activities, buying new infrastructure (using fake or stolen credit card information), and moving the flagged content to that new infrastructure.
Persistent threat to the US
After a years-long investigation, all four individuals were charged, and extradited to the United States last year.
In May 2021, all four pled guilty; Stassi got a two-year sentence, Skorodumov got four, and Skvortsov is expected to be sentenced next year.
“Cybercrime presents a serious and persistent threat to the United States, and these prosecutions send a clear message that ‘bulletproof hosters’ who purposely aid other cybercriminals are responsible, and will be held accountable, for the harms their criminal clients cause within our borders,” said Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr. of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“Over the course of many years, the defendants facilitated the transnational criminal activity of a vast network of cybercriminals throughout the world by providing them a safe-haven to anonymize their criminal activity,” added Timothy Waters of the FBI.
“This resulted in millions of dollars of losses to US victims. Cybercriminals may believe they are beyond the reach of the FBI and our international partners, but today’s proceeding proves that anyone who facilitates or profits from criminal cyber activity will be brought to justice.”
Many of us are unironically and perhaps foolishly waiting for that elusive third main entry in the Half-Life series. But Valve co-founder Gabe Newell may have let slip that his company's future lies in the evolvement of VR, AR and "brain computer interfaces," or BCI.
As reported by RoadToVR, Newell, speaking at the Sancta Maria College in Auckland, New Zealand, made a comment that perhaps had a little more gravitas than the audience was expecting.
"There are interesting questions," Newell said, "like: are things sort of stable end goals or are they transition points? My view, which is not in the accepted middle realm, is that VR and AR are transition points towards brain-computer interfaces.
"Everything you have to do in terms of controls in games, in terms of understanding visual processing, in terms of competent design are leading you towards brain-computer interfaces and what they do.
"I think brain-computer interfaces are going to be incredibly disruptive, one of the more disruptive technology transitions we’re going to go through. So I think it’s super valuable. We’re making big investments in new headsets and games for those application categories, but also looking further down the road and saying, 'what’s that evolve into?'"
Valve, of course, has already made significant strides in the VR space. The company co-developed the HTC Vive headset all the way back in 2015, following up with the Valve Index in 2019, a premium VR headset and arguably the best on the market, if you can afford it.
The company also released Half-Life: Alyx in 2020, arguably the biggest and easily one of the best VR games to date. The scope and scale of that game is potentially indicative of Valve's future plans with virtual and augmented reality.
Newell confirmed as much at the same talk, stating: "Half-Life: Alyx was sort of our best statement on what we think the opportunities are, and I think that encapsulates our current best thinking on that. And it also informs the decisions we’re making on the next generation of headsets we’re developing."
Analysis: Erm, brain computer interfaces?

Currently, our best guess as to Valve's general objective with its future VR headsets, based on Newell's comments, is to create hardware that better supports large-scale games and apps like we saw with Half-Life: Alyx.
Even though we're starting to see more ambitious VR projects like Resident Evil 4 VR, many virtual reality experiences still boil down to quick tech demos or specific gimmicks. The tech still has very few genuine killer apps that have people rushing out to buy one of the best VR headsets.
As for the concept of brain computer interfaces, it's not a new concept for Valve. Newell has previously dabbled with the idea, stating "we're way closer to The Matrix than people realize."
Which... taken at face value, is a bit of a scary thought, even if Newell clarified that brain computer interfaces (or BCI) should be about making games and apps more of an immersive package and not, in fact, an indistinguishable virtual world we're all unknowingly trapped within.
It's still obviously very early days, and Newell's own comments on what BCI tech can offer for gaming and other VR experiences are conceptual at best. That said, we can't say we're not a little intrigued by the concept of exploring a fully realized virtual world that our senses can actively react to. Time will tell if the tech pans out to be anything remotely realistic, or if it will remain the pipe dream of ambitious inventors for decades to come.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be over for another year, but a new Nintendo Switch bundle is coming to Walmart that includes a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online and a Neon Blue Edition carrying case.

Analysis: don’t expect a Nintendo Switch 2 in the near future

Nintendo has recently said that the Switch is only reaching "the mid-point of its lifecycle", even though it has, somewhat predictably, conceded that it’s planning another system in the future.
“We are not able to comment about the next game system at this time,” said Nintendo president Furukawa-san at the company’s financial briefing in November. “It is now the fifth year since the launch of Nintendo Switch, and the total hardware sell-through has exceeded 90 million units. We recognize that the system is at the mid-point of its lifecycle.”
Nintendo recently released the Nintendo Switch OLED, a refined version of the original Nintendo Switch, but one that doesn’t improve the internal hardware of the console in any way.
There’s clearly demand for a more powerful Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch Pro, but for now, Nintendo seems content to continue cashing in on the success of the Switch, which has been a global hit from day one.
Nintendo is about to get some stiff competition in the handheld console space, though. Valve’s Steam Deck is set to release in February 2022 after a short delay, and the new handheld could meet the needs of many gamers who want a more powerful Switch – subject to availability of course.
If the rumors are true, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series is going to launch in February 2022, and in the meantime the leaks continue to flood in – including a new image showing off the rear camera modules for the S22, the S22 Plus, and the S22 Ultra.
Published on Chinese social media platform Weibo (via SamMobile), the snap clearly shows the three lenses that make up the rear camera on the S22 and the S22 Plus, as well as the more advanced setup that the S22 Ultra is getting – it reportedly adds an extra telephoto zoom lens to the mix and adopts a different P-shape configuration.
If we can use the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra as our guide, those extra three holes on the right on the S22 Ultra module are for the laser autofocus system, the flashlight (which is separate on the S22 and S22 Plus), and the additional telephoto zoom lens.
We've now seen multiple leaks around the Galaxy S22 handsets and their cameras, and there's now little doubt that the rear camera modules will follow the lead of the Galaxy S21 series, with additional lenses and capabilities on the Ultra model.
What's not yet clear is whether there's actually going to be a raised shelf to house these cameras or whether each lens will protrude from the rear casing separately. We've seen conflicting reports on this, especially when it comes to the S22 Ultra model.
One rumor doing the rounds is that there may actually be two variations of the S22 Ultra, with two different rear camera designs – one with S Pen support and one without. We should only have to wait another couple of months to find out for sure.
Analysis: the S22 Ultra breaks away

If we can assume that most of the Galaxy S22 leaks we've seen so far are accurate – and there have been a lot of very similar ones – then it would appear that the Ultra model is going to be quite distinct from the standard S22 and the S22 Plus editions of the phone.
Well-respected tipsters have predicted that the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22 Plus are going to rock up with triple-lens 50MP+12MP+10MP rear cameras. The configuration on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, meanwhile, is said to be a quad-lens 108MP+12MP+10MP+10MP affair.
Those dual 10MP telephoto lenses will apparently enable an optical zoom level all the way up to 10x, according to those in the know. But the Ultra model will also stand out in terms of its design, with a larger 6.81-inch screen and flatter edges.
In fact, it sounds as though next year the Ultra model will be more like a Galaxy Note phone than a Galaxy S phone – and it may get a name change to reflect that too. It's an appealing prospect, but it's likely to come with a hefty price tag attached as well.

The only way the champion is decided in Saudi Arabia is if Verstappen tops the podium and Hamilton finishes lower than 7th. Or, of course, if the Brit ends up with a DNF. On the tight-walled yet very fast Jeddah street circuit, the latter seems like it could be a possibility – but not just for Sir Lewis, as Max will need to focus, too.
To take home the championship, Hamilton needs to win the next two races, and if he drops points, he can only hope that Verstappen does the same. Whatever happens, though, we can't wait to see what the outcome is.
There are endless permutations, but suffice to say that every pitstop, corner, DRS zone and qualifying lap could be a season-defining moment for either of them.

How to watch an F1 live stream in the UK
You can watch every 2021 F1 GP via Sky Sports and its dedicated Sky Sports F1 channel. Subscribers also get to watch on the move using the Sky Go app, which is available on nearly all modern phones, tablets, laptops, PCs and consoles.
For those without Sky, the best option is to nab a Now TV Sky Sports Monthly Pass, which includes all 11 channels. As well as F1 action, Sky also hosts live football, PGA Tour golf, cricket, NBA basketball, and loads more.
To access your usual streaming service from outside the UK, you'll need to download a good VPN as detailed above.
How to watch F1: live stream Formula 1 racing in the US
For the 2021 F1 season, it's ESPN that will be providing comprehensive coverage in the US. Cord-cutters are in luck, too, as you can get ESPN without having an expensive cable package.
Of the many and varied options, the best for Formula 1 fans wanting to watch an F1 live stream is Sling TV, whose Sling Orange package features ESPN channels for just $35 a month - check out Sling and save $10 on your first month.
Alternatively, fuboTV is an even more complete end-to-end cable replacement services, which offers ESPN, ABC and over 120 other channels on plans starting from $64.99 a month.
New or existing subscribers to US streaming services can still access the platform of their choice from abroad, too - all you need is the help of a good VPN.
Live stream F1 and watch Grand Prix racing in Canada
In Canada, you can watch 2021 F1 races on English-language TSN or French-language RDS - but they're premium channels that typically come with a pay TV package.
If you get them as part of your cable deal, then you'll just be able to log in with the details of your provider and get access to an F1 live stream.
If you don't have cable, then you can subscribe to TSN or RDS on a streaming-only basis from just CA$4.99 a day or (much better value) $19.99 a month.
The Australian TV broadcaster for the 2021 F1 season is Fox Sports, but if you don't have Fox as part of pay TV package, your best option may be to sign up for the fast-emerging Kayo Sports streaming service.
It features no lock-in contracts and gives you access to over 50 other sports including the cricket, NRL, football... the list goes on! Handy if you don't want to go all out on Fox.
After that, the Kayo Sports Basic Package costs $25 per month and allows users to stream across two devices simultaneously. The service also offers a Kayo Sports Premium Package, which provides three concurrent streams for $35 per month.
Don't forget, you can take your coverage abroad with you as well. For those wanting to watch home coverage of sports from overseas, a good VPN is the solution.
How to watch F1 online: live stream in New Zealand
Formula 1 fans based in New Zealand get the 2021 F1 races broadcast by Spark Sport, which costs $19.99 per month. But if you just want to catch one race for free, you're in luck, as there's a 7-day free trial.
Once that's expired, you'll get coverage for the reasonable price of $24.99 a month. As well as the F1 action, you also get a bevvy of Black Caps and England cricket matches, NBA basketball action from the US, and EPL football.
Spark Sport is available via web browsers on your PC or Mac, plus Apple and Android mobile devices, Chromecast, Apple TV, selected Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and LG TVs, and select Freeview streamers.

Audio-Technica has launched its latest pair of true wireless earbuds, which come with an unusual square design and a pleasingly budget-friendly price.
The ATH-SQ1TW wireless earbuds come in a range of bright food-themed colors, including Blueberry, Caramel, Popsicle, Cupcake, Black, and White, each boasting square housings that look quite unlike any other true wireless earbuds we've tested.

Costing just $79 / £79.99 (about AU$110), the Audio-Technica earbuds are cheaper than many true wireless earbuds on the market – even cheaper than our favorite budget wireless earbuds, the Lypertek PurePlay Z3 2.0.
Despite their relatively low price, the ATH-SQ1TW don't skimp on the specs, with each bud containing 5.8mm drivers for what Audio-Technica describes as a "clear, powerful sound."
The earbuds also come with a low latency mode, which should mitigate any audio sync issues when you're watching videos or playing games.
An IPX4 water resistance rating means these buds should be able to withstand a splash of rain or a little sweat if you want to use them while working out. Touch controls built into the earbuds also allow you play and pause your music, skip tracks, answer phone calls, and adjust the volume of your music – all without needing to dig out your phone.
There's no active noise cancellation – we'd be surprised, at this price point – but there is a hear-through feature that uses the ATH-SQ1TW's microphones to capture ambient sound, allowing you to tune into your surroundings. It's a handy feature if you're listening to music while navigating busy streets, or for when you want to have a quick conversation without removing your earbuds.
In terms of connectivity, there's support for Google Fast Pair, which means you can pair the earbuds with Android devices with one tap on your phone.
Low battery life, high fashion credentials

The only spec that's slightly disappointing is the battery life. While you get a respectable 6.5 hours from the earbuds themselves, the charging case only provides a further 13 hours of playback, for a total of 19.5 hours of battery life.
That's not the worst battery life we've seen, but it certainly doesn't match other budget-friendly buds like the aforementioned Lypertek in-ear headphones; they boast a whopping 80-hour battery life, proving that a low price doesn't mean you'll need to constantly be charging your earbuds.
Still, we don't think anyone will be buying the Audio-Technica ATH-SQ1TW for their battery life – for us, it's all about that striking, stand-out design, which makes the earbuds almost look like a pair of stylish earrings.
We can't wait to try them out for ourselves – and our pick would have to be the Caramel color option, as it looks absolutely delicious.

We expect a number of Disc and Digital consoles will be available to buy from Sony's official store. Going by previous drops, you'll only have the option to pick up either console by itself. Unlike other major retailers, no bundles will be offered.
As for how this system works, at 10am the waiting room will be opened up to all. After a short time (usually about 30 mins) you will then be assigned a random spot in the queue and just have to hope it's high enough to get a PS5 console before they all sell out again.
Even a year after the PS5 launch, each restock still sells out in a matter of minutes. PlayStation Direct has been a new player in the game this year as Sony finally launched its own store outside of the US. Select PSN accounts are given invites to PS5 restocks in an exclusive two-hour window and then access opens to the wider public once this has passed. Admittedly, it's not the most satisfying way to do it, but it definitely feels a lot more organised than some other stores.

PS5:£449.99 at PlayStation Direct PS5 Disc consoles will be available today from 10am at PlayStation Direct. You can enter the waiting room at this time and then a short while after you will be given a random spot in the queue. You just have to hope it's near enough to the front that you can get a console before they sell out.
PS5 (Digital Edition):£359.99 at PlayStation Direct
The PS5 Digital Edition costs £90 less than the main PS5 but it doesn't include a disc tray so you will have to buy all of your games digitally. Fewer of these consoles are manufactured so it's generally harder to get one during a restock.
Based on the current information out there, this is likely one of your best opportunities to get a PS5 before the end of the year. A couple more stores such as Very and Amazon could hold another restock in December, but it's definitely getting close to the wire before Christmas.

While this isn’t the lowest price we’ve ever seen for the Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus – it previously dropped to £78.16 earlier in the year – it’s still good value.
The Instant Pot Duo Nova has a 5.7-litre capacity, which Instant Pot says is enough for five portions, making it ideal if you have a large family to feed or you want to batch cook.
