Realme 9 has an official launch date for the Indian market. The company has announced that the device will be launched alongside the GT 2 Pro on April 7 at 12:30 noon.
Oppo’s sub-brand has already created a product page that covers many of the specifications of the Realme 9. The device would be the first to launch in India with Samsung’s ISOCELL HM6 camera sensor with a 108-megapixel ProLight camera, a 4cm Macro camera and a 120-degree ultrawide camera on the rear.
According to the company, the new sensors on the Realme 9 can let in 123% more light than the previous generation HM2 sensor which helps add brightness and reduce noise in low-light photographs. Realme calls this the 9-Sum Pixel Binning process.

The Realme 9 is also equipped with a 90Hz Super AMOLED display that has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The smartphone also has a touch-sampling rate of 360Hz which would be beneficial for gamers. What makes the upcoming device even more interesting is the fact that the in-display fingerprint scanner doubles as a heart-rate monitor which is also an industry first.
Realme 9 will be available in three colours - Sunburst Gold, Stargaze White and Meteor Black. The company also retains the same Ripple Holographic design for the Realme 9 lineup which gives a soothing liquid effect that is visually appealing in the Gold and White colour.
Other specifications of the Realme 9 are unknown at this time, however, we can expect more leaks to come up in the next few days leading up to the launch. Realme may also continue to update the product page with new details about the smartphone.
A brighter future for mid-range devices
Although Realme may not be the first to bring higher brightness displays to budget devices in India, there is no denying that many mid-range devices this year will compete with each other on the basis of this feature. Poco’s recently launched X4 Pro 5G comes with max 1200 nits brightness.
The new trend of bringing Super AMOLED panels to budget smartphones has created healthy competition among brands bringing more choices to the masses and also providing more premium features to the mid-range budget segment.
